Atlantic County offices will be closed on Monday, February 23 due to a potentially historic nor’easter winter storm that could bring 12-24 inches of snow to our area and blizzard conditions resulting in reduced visibility and making travel treacherous.
The heaviest snowfall is expected tonight through tomorrow morning. Motorists are urged to avoid all unnecessary travel during this time.
County Executive Dennis Levinson encourages all residents to continue to monitor weather forecasts and heed the guidance of public officials.
“You can help emergency crews do their jobs better by staying off the roadways and remaining safe indoors,” said Levinson. “Also, consider charging all electronic devices now in preparation for possible power outages due to high winds and heavy snow, downed tree branches and utility lines.”
Public Works crews will deploy plows with two or more inches of snow. Please note that snowfall rates could exceed 2 inches per hour making it difficult for crews to keep roadways clear.
A State of Emergency is in effect throughout New Jersey as of 12 noon today with commercial vehicle restrictions on interstate highways as of 3 pm this afternoon, excluding the New Jersey Turnpike, Garden State Parkway and Atlantic City Expressway.
Governor Sherill has also closed all state offices for tomorrow, including the NJ Superior Court.
