Re: Annual Open Space Trust Fund Tax 2026
Whereas, in November 1990 the voters of the County of Atlantic approved a ballot referendum authorizing the collection of an annual tax up to 2 cents per $100.00 of valuation to be utilized for the acquisition of preservation and recreation areas, and
Whereas, under N.J.S.A. 40:12-16, the County governing body may annually raise by taxation a sum not to exceed the rate approved in the referendum, and
Whereas the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Atlantic desires to set the amount to be raised by taxation in 2026,
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Atlantic that the following statements of revenue and appropriations shall constitute the County Open Space Preservation Trust Fund tax rate for the year 2026.
Tax Rate
One cent per $100.00 of valuation
Appropriation
The total amount to be raised by taxation will be matched by an equivalent appropriation.
Open Space Plan
All expenditures of the Open Space Preservation Trust Fund appropriation shall be in accordance with the Atlantic County Open Space Plan adopted by the County herewith, a copy of which is on file with the Clerk of the Board of County Commissioners and available for public inspection.
Be It Further Resolved that the said notice of tax shall be published in The Press in the issue of March 17, 2026 and on the Atlantic County Government website, atlanticcountynj.gov.
Be It Further Resolved that a hearing on the budget and tax resolution will be held at the County Complex, Stillwater Building, 201 South Shore Road, Northfield, NJ, on the 31st day of March, 2026 at 4:00 P.M.,(said meeting also livestreamed at https://www.atlanticcountynj.gov), at which time and place comments to the said budget and tax resolution of the Open Space Preservation Trust Fund of the County of Atlantic for the year 2026 may be presented by taxpayers and other interested parties.
