With the 2026 Primary Election approaching, Superintendent of Elections/Commissioner of Registration Maureen Bugdon reminds residents of the upcoming deadline to register to vote on Tuesday, May 12.
“We want every eligible resident to have the opportunity to participate,” said Superintendent Bugdon. “If you’ve been meaning to register, recently moved, or just aren’t sure of your status, now is the perfect time to take a moment and check. We’re here to help every step of the way.”
Election officials understand that life gets busy, and this reminder is meant to make the process as easy and welcoming as possible, especially for first-time voters and those who may need to update their information.
Who Should Take a Moment to Check or Register?
· First-time voters
· Residents who have recently moved to or within New Jersey or Atlantic County
· Voters who have changed their name
· Anyone who hasn’t voted in a while and would like to confirm their registration
It’s Simple, Fast & Convenient to Register:
· By mail using a voter registration form available through any Election, Municipal Clerk, Military Recruiting Office, and more;
· In person at your Superintendent of Elections/County Commissioner of Registration Office
To be eligible, you must be:
· A United States citizen
· At least 17 years old turning 18 by November’s General Election Day – A new law permits you to vote!
· A resident of your county for at least 30 days before the election
