The Atlantic County Office of Emergency Preparedness has issued multiple Code Blue Alerts in accordance with New Jersey regulations as follows:
Beginning Thursday, February 13 at 10 PM through Friday, February 14 at 10 AM;
Beginning Friday, February 14 at 7 PM through Saturday, February 15 at 9 AM;
Beginning Monday, February 17 at 1 AM through Tuesday, February 18 at 12 AM.
A Code Blue Alert is required to be issued within 24 to 48 hours of weather conditions that may meet the following criteria based upon National Weather Service forecasts:
Temperatures will reach 32 degrees Fahrenheit or lower with or without precipitation or wind-chill temperatures of 0 degrees or less for a period of two or more hours.
The Code Blue Alert is intended to assist municipalities with a documented population of at least 10 “at risk individuals” who may be living outdoors or in poorly insulated settings and are at risk for weather-related exposure and possible death.
Any resident who experiences a life-threatening emergency should call 9-1-1. Non-life threatening emergencies may be reported to your local municipal office of emergency management.
As warming centers are activated, they will be included on a statewide list available at nj211.org.
