Veterans Diversion Program (VDP)
Why Was the VDP Created?
The Atlantic County Veterans Diversion Program (VDP) was established to provide eligible veterans with an alternative to the traditional criminal justice system by offering rehabilitative treatment. The program recognizes that some offenses may be linked to service-related trauma, mental health issues, or substance abuse. Instead of prosecution, veterans receive structured support through supervision, counseling, and treatment services. Successful completion of the program can lead to the dismissal of charges.
