Atlantic County Transportation Unit 2026 Budget by Funding Source
The County of Atlantic, County Executive, Board of County Commissioners, Department of Human Services, and Local Citizen’s Transportation Advisory Committee are pleased to offer a wide range of Transportation services to residents of Atlantic County. The Atlantic County Transportation Unit’s (A.C.T.U.) program is designed to provide necessary services, on a “first come, first served” basis, to the maximum number of county residents, in conjunction with all other service providers in the region.
Services are available and provided to qualified residents on weekdays, 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, for both life essential and life enhancing services.
Qualified Residents
- Age 60 or older
- Persons with disability
- Veterans traveling to/from qualified medical centers
- Residents in rural areas of western Atlantic County
A.C.T.U. may not duplicate other transportation services. Therefore, residents with other transportation available to them (ex: assisted living facilities/institutions) are not eligible. Review additional public transit offerings.

Reservations and Service Operations
- Service operates Monday-Friday; 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
- Reservations are required. Call 609-645-5910 between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm, weekdays.
- Advanced reservations for Life Essential Services are accepted up to 7 days prior to travel
- Advanced reservations for Life Enhancing Services are accepted up to 2 days prior to travel
- For customer service, cancellations or further information, call 609-645-5910 between 7:00 am and 3:30 pm, weekdays.
Life Essential Services
The following programs are defined as Life Essential Services:
- Dialysis Treatment
- Chemotherapy and/or other forms of on-going cancer treatments
- Daily Nutrition Site Services
- Prescribed Physical and Occupational Therapy Programs
- Therapy Programs
- Non-Emergency Medical & Laboratory Appointments
- Weekly Regional Grocery Shopping Programs
- Compensated/Volunteer Employment and/or Educational/Job Training
- All General Public Rural Travel Requests
We recommend that all life essential transportation service requests be scheduled 7 days in advance of service date.
Life Enhancing Services
The following transportation service programs are defined as Life Enhancing Services:
- Non-grocery related shopping services
- All other social and recreational services

ADA Requests and Grievances
Requesting an Accommodation:
It is the policy of Atlantic County Government to provide equal access for people with disabilities to all of its activities, services, policies and programs. Under Title II of the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and under the NJ LAD (Law Against Discrimination), clients who need a reasonable accommodation to utilize County programs/services should make their needs known to the County’s ADA Coordinator. Grievance Procedure
If a member of the public wishes to file a grievance alleging discrimination on the basis of disability in the provision of accessibility, services, activities, programs, or benefits provided by the County of Atlantic, they can report the problem to the ADA Coordinator.
