Opioid Awareness & Narcan Training 

Residents can receive FREE Opioid Awareness and Narcan training from Atlantic County Addiction Services. Narcan is an emergency treatment that is used to save someone who is having an opioid related overdose. Participants will receive a FREE Opioid Overdose Narcan Kit that provides the tools needed to save a life. The training includes an overview of addiction, signs and symptoms, how to administer Narcan, rescue breathing, overdose prevention and legal rights, support information and resources.

 New Jersey Department of Human Service Free Naloxone (Narcan) Program

Narcan Nasal Spray

Eligible agencies who can apply to the program include the following:

  • First responder agencies such as law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services
  • Harm reduction agencies
  • DMHAS-contracted community peer recovery centers
  • County prosecutor’s offices
  • DMHAS contracted family support centers
  • Libraries
  • Mobile outreach providers
  • Opioid treatment programs
  • Re-entry programs
  • DMHAS-contracted treatment programs
  • Shelters

Interested agencies who meet eligibility requirements must register the NJ DHS Division of Mental Health and Addiction Services website. Once registration is completed, registered agencies will be able to log-in to the Naloxone Distribution Portal and submit requests for naloxone as needed.
