Board of County Commissioners
In 1974, Atlantic County voters changed the county governmental form under the Optional County Charter Law to the executive form. The charter provides for a popularly-elected executive and for a nine member commissioners board, responsible for legislation. The commissioners are elected to staggered three-year terms. Five of the commissioners represent equally populated districts; four are elected from the county-at-large.

At the March 31, 2026 meeting, the Atlantic County Board of Commissioners took a moment to recognize Women’s History Month. This important acknowledgment was made with the support of the Atlantic County Advisory Commission on Women, highlighting the ongoing commitment to honoring the achievements and contributions of women in our community.
At the April 7, 2026 Board of Commissioners meeting, the Board recognized a Resolution supported by Commissioner Maureen Kern for National Crime Victims’ Rights Week in Atlantic County. This recognition highlights the ongoing commitment to supporting crime victims and raising awareness about their rights.
At the July 7, 2026 Board of Commissioners meeting, the Board honored Miss New Jersey 2026 Kylie Wright.
