Human Services Advisory Council
The Atlantic County Human Services Advisory Council (HSAC) advises County Executive Dennis Levinson on human service needs and spending in Atlantic County. The HSAC makes programmatic, contract and resource allocation recommendations to state, county, and other funding sources for human service programs. The HSAC initiates and participates in human service needs identification and development of service delivery plans. The advisory council assists in the coordination of local human services delivery systems and monitors existing human service program contacts for which HSAC has made funding recommendations.
Members of the HSAC are appointed by the county executive, who sets the goals for composition and membership. The county executive endeavors to meet all state requirements for composition. Members are normally appointed to a two year term. The HSAC consists of at least thirty-two voting members and necessary non-voting county and state representatives. Appointment and the length and terms of appointment are the prerogative of the county executive.
