First Annual Holiday Dinner – 2025
The Atlantic County Veterans Advisory Board members attended a holiday dinner at The Nizams Restaurant in Egg Harbor Township, hosted by Board member Dr. Mukesh Roy on January 8, 2025. Outgoing Atlantic County Commissioner Frank X. Balles was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation for his dedicated service as Commissioner and liaison to the ACVAB. A warm welcome was given to the Board’s new liaison, Atlantic County Commissioner June Byrnes.
The Atlantic County Veterans Advisory Board advocates for veterans throughout the county and helps to ensure that county government remains responsive to their needs.
The board advises the county executive and promotes access to programs and services that benefit veterans and their families. It contributes to the planning, organization and execution of county activities that proudly recognize those who have served our country in the armed forces. Through collaboration, public awareness, and community engagement, the board helps to ensure the sacrifices of Atlantic County veterans are honored and their well-being is supported.
Membership
The Veterans Advisory Board is made up of members representing all areas of Atlantic County to ensure broad community involvement. All voting members are veterans, as required by New Jersey law, and serve staggered three-year terms beginning January 1. In addition, the Board may include up to three non-voting members, who may be residents or veterans of Atlantic County.

Veterans interested in serving on the Board, including as non-voting members, must submit an application and resume, along with a copy of their honorable discharge (DD-214) or WD Form 53-55 showing a discharge other than dishonorable or undesirable. Non-veteran Atlantic County residents follow the same application process, excluding the requirement to submit veteran discharge documentation.
All applicants are required to undergo and pass a criminal background check.

Meetings are held the 1st Wednesday of each month at the Stillwater Building, 201 S. Shore Road, Northfield at 7 PM. All meetings are open to the public.
