Household income is only one eligibility factor. Customers who are laid off due to lack of work may be considered income eligible (regardless of their household’s actual income) if certain conditions are met. To make an appointment, please call (609) 485-0052.

There are federal grants up to $5000 grant. The grant may be used in addition to Pell Grants and/or Stafford Loans offered by the training providers. Grants are paid directly to the approved New Jersey Training Providers which are listed on NJ Training Explorer. Other non-monetary training opportunities include Tuition Free Waivers at Public Colleges where participants simply pay for books, materials, and fees.

The Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS) is used as an evaluation measurement tool. There is no pass or fail on this evaluation procedure. The purpose of this evaluation is to identify your Grade Equivalency (GE). Each vocational training course has a minimum GE as a pre-requisite for student enrollment. This activity is free.

In Atlantic County, the CASAS test will be scheduled after you successfully complete the eligibility process. The activity begins at 8:30 am and lasts to about 1:00 pm in the Pleasantville Office. On average the length of the CASAS test is 2-2 ½ hours. The test is scheduled by appointment only and is held in the Pleasantville One Stop Career Center. Atlantic County also offers free education and tutoring for eligible customers.

The Tuition Waiver Program is available at all NJ Public Colleges and makes unfilled seats available to qualified One Stop participants. Classes must lead towards employment in a labor demand field in your county. The tuition will be waived and eligible participants simply pay for books, materials, and fees.

If you obtain a Promise of Employment from a casino complete with your name, position, and hourly rate, you may be eligible to be sponsored for a NJ35 License. Once you complete and notarize your NJ35 Casino Employee Registration, you may call 609-485-0052 extension 4873 to set an eligibility appointment for this program.
